Sustain Jefferson President Ellen Klaus, Watertown, welcomed attendees to two days of gardening workshops offered March 27 and 28. The workshops covered basic and advanced gardening topics such as raised beds, “lasagna gardening,” “square foot gardening,” composting, soil enrichment, and season extension techniques.

Workshop attendees had the opportunity to learn from Jefferson County organic gardening expert Rob Frost of Someday Gardens, LLC, about raised bed garden styles.

Workshop participants came from throughout Jefferson County, southeastern Wisconsin, and northern Illinois for the opportunity to expand their gardening knowledge.

Participants enjoyed lunches of locally produced foods, including fresh greens raised since January using season extension techniques.

SJ's booth drew crowds throughout the entire Fair.
